I will tell you myself we are doing the best we can. But, certain districts are harder than others. Republicans are working night and day. Democrats have a hands off approach until after the primary which I disagree with wholeheartedly. I hope with the work we have completed Democrats will change their style of working towards primaries and elections in the future. I believe there is a better way.

We have received positive support all over the state. Most important is that the people of Indiana want to see CHANGE in a big way because they think the state is going down rather than UP! They want jobs that is at the top of the list. Priority is the economy. Right now people are hurting and there is anger that not enough is being done to solve our problems. In the south unemployment is a huge problem the same in the north. People are discouraged because they are trying to find work and there is none to be had or extremely low paying at best. They realize powers that exist now say a lot of pretty things but their words do not match their actions or results.

First of all, I admire you for running for Senate. Although this system is broke, and the career (generational?) politicians are just in it for themselves, someone has to at least holler in the darkness that things aren't ok around here.
I wish you the best of luck, and am glad you keep dropping by here to keep us updated on your travels and experiences. In some ways, I think the story of your running is as important as the outcome. You're giving the rest of us an insight into what it is like to run for office as a simple citizen rather than the annointed party members. I would imagine the Democratic Party as a whole would want to keep a "hands off" policy since the primary involved all Democrats, but what about the Democratic Women's Caucus? Are they helping you? It says on the front page of their site "The Caucus was a natural, grassroots evolution of that outreach. Its mission is to fund, inspire, recruit, support, and train progressive women to increase the numbers of women in electoral and appointed positions. Many women do not consider running for office until asked. This Caucus does exactly that." Since you're a woman, and certainly grassroots, I'm sure they're doing what they can to help. After all unless Bayh gets a sex change, they can't very well support him. ![]() Good luck in your travels, and do keep us posted! |

No, unfortunately the DWC has not offered any support at all for my campaign. I am a member of the DWC. I did not expect them to because they did not offer support for Gretchen Clearwater another member when she ran for Congress last year.
The mission statement of the DWC needs to be changed. They have a much narrower view of women who they choose to run for political office. The DWC board knows my feelings on this subject and I am fully aware of their feelings we are all Democrats but we do not agree on everything. That is the best thing about living in America you have the right to disagree even in your own political party. I believe in guerrilla politics. Democrats especially Progressives need to put up more than one candidate at a time to defeat career politicians that have millions of dollars and powerful connections. Otherwise we just have rotating mainly men career politicians (for federal and state positions) like a clock getting zero accomplished in our state and our country. This is why nothing is working in this country (unchanging politics, media distractions, and more corporate money poured in makes for chaos when it comes to bettering the life of our citizens.) Mafias work much the same way as our political system unfortunately. We have an idealistic way that politics should work but in reality that is not really the way it is being accomplished. I am the first woman to run for the U.S. Senate in Indiana since we became a state in 1816. I find that amazing and quite sad. I hope by my running it will encourage more women and more minorities to run in the state of Indiana in our near future. I thank you for your support and I look forward to meeting you in the future. Tamyra d'Ippolito, Democrat Candidate for the U.S. Senate
