Most important issues affecting American Indians in southern Indiana

The NACC is starting work on a five-year strategic plan.

We'd like to know what issues you believe are the most important ones affecting American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians in southern Indiana.

We're also looking for input from people of all ethnicities about the quality of American Indian-related education throughout Monroe County so we can provide specialized workshops for teachers. Parents and teachers, what have been your experiences? What misinformation, if any, have you encountered? Teachers, what sorts of resources would be most useful to you?

While not being specific to southern Indiana, the government's solution to the "Indian Problem" has for many years, been to stop recognizing the tribes. If there ARE no Indians, then there's no problem either.

The tribes now seem to be doing what the government has only had limited success in doing. Eliminating branches of descendents by disqualifying them according to their recorded heritage. Records of the early days have been sporadic at best.
