Poverty is often thought of as a problem "they" have "over there". But in according to recent studies, 40% of the population in Bloomington is in poverty. We will be exploring this here with the intention of finding ways to bring this number down.

Shade has as many variations to gardeners as snow has to residents in the arctic circle. Partial shade, morning shade, evening shade, shade with reflected light, and dense shade . . .the list goes on. And each of these conditions creates an environment where some plants may languish and others flourish. Come share what you know, and ask what you don't about making those shady areas both healthy and beautiful.

We'd like to hear what you do, how you got started, and what took you off the paycheck path to pursue such an uncertain vocation. Pleaes note that this is not a place to post ads, or copy and paste your marketing messages. It's rather a person-to-person way to explain what you do, or to ask other businesses about theirs. Also, announcements fromr local business support organizations like the Chamber, BNI, Rainmakers, etc. are welcome as well.

Whether you're an alum, an IU student's parent, or someone coming down for a visit, you can find out the current state by asking those of us still here. It's no surprise to anyone who's been away for more than a few months that things happen fast in Bloomington. Woods turn into classrooms. Parking lots turn into apartments. Apartments turn into parking lots. Ask your questions here to get answers from the people who live here.

Green up! (1 Viewing)
It's all very easy to talk about cleaning up the environment, but often the specifics get dropped. It's also easy to feel overwhelmed, thinking of global conditions like greenhouse gasses, an ocean full of mercury, and other huge issues. Let's share ways here how we can have a practical impact right now, and right here in Bloomington!

One of the primary features of the Bloomington area most appreciated by residents and visitors alike are the beautiful forests, wildlife, and lakes surrounding us. If there is anything you'd like to ask or to share about boating, hiking, fishing, hunting, or an occasional picnic in these areas, you've come to the right place!

Idea Exchange
Fortunately, not everybody sees the same event or situation the same. Everyone has a wealth of past experiences and often different sources of information concerning the same topic. Hopefully we can learn from each other here and hear the many sides to the same story and perhaps draw a more informed conclusion than the one we brought in. Facts and citing sources are always welcome in this area.

Single in Bloomington (1 Viewing)

Often singles are viewed as a single bookend searching for it's match, pining away for their soulmate. However, this is not always the case. Many singles are quite happy to be single, but still enjoy dates, and find it easier to play tennis if there is someone on the other side of the net.

Hopefully this part of the forum will help singles find each other, whether you are looking for a life partner or a tennis partner.
