Rev. Butler Park Preservation Society
Bloomington, Indiana ph: 812-339-3172
We are a not-for-profit organization under the Caldwell Eco Center, dedicated to preserving public quality of life. We save parks , historic neighborhoods and greenspace in general that are threatened by developers.
Currently, our focus is on saving the Ninth Street Park, which ironically was renamed in 2005 to preserve the memory of Reverend Butler. Now, a short two years later, a trade is being considered with the school board to turn this cherished greenspace into a three-level school.
We feel that two years is a rather short commemoration and are working to preserve both the park and the memory of civil rights leader Reverend Butler.
